Southeast Saga x Lene Refsgaard

This is the very first Southeast Saga artist x artisan collaboration. And I am beyond happy with the result.

My talented friend Lene Refsgaard created this beautiful watercolor painting called Bornholm (which is the name of a small Danish island), and amazing Suwarni (from Pejeng, a little village just east to Ubud) turned it into this incredible handwoven tapestry – slow made from naturally dyed cotton by Tarum Bali.
These two incredible women have never met in person, but through this collaboration a connection between them has been established – between their hands and their souls. You can sense all the love and time they have both poured into their creations when you look at and touch the tapestry. From Bornholm to Bali.

This is the first tapestry in a series of works by Lene Refsgaard and Suwarni, curated by Southeast Saga.
